BOB HEGNER
FOR DISTRICT 5

Experience That Matters

VOTE NOVEMBER 7TH

My name is Bob Hegner and I am asking for your vote for Amherst Town Council District 5 in the 2023 Amherst Town Election. I know a lot about leadership. It takes leadership to overcome challenges. It would be an honor to represent District 5 on the Amherst Town Council.

Serving on the Amherst Finance Committee for 4 years, I am uniquely positioned to understand the challenges facing our town.

Managing complex federal and state programs gives me the skills needed to address those challenges.

Who I Am

I am a 23-year resident who moved with his family to Amherst because of its strong community and commitment to children.

I earned a Ph.D. in biology from Cornell University, and was a NATO postdoctoral fellow at Oxford University.

As a consultant to federal and state governments, I oversaw programs for keeping the environment safe from toxic chemicals, creating policy for cleaning up nuclear weapons sites, bringing broadband to underserved rural areas, and running disaster recovery programs to help homeowners, renters, businesses, and communities.

I have managed budgets significantly larger than Amherst’s.

I have built diverse teams to work collaboratively on challenging projects.

What Am I Committed To Doing

Supporting growth while preserving the unique look and spirit of Amherst.

Increasing revenues for growth without burdening Amherst residents.

Dealing with the state of our roads, sidewalks, water, and sewer lines.

Funding projects that address the needs of a diverse population, such as affordable rentals and home ownership.

Ensuring that residents know what is before the council, that their concerns are heard, and that they are included in developing solutions.

Supporting the school, DPW, fire station, and library, while keeping an eye on budgetary constraints.
